J.S.Bach's “Goldberg” Variations are without a doubt one of the most important keyboard works of the 18th century. His own manuscript might not have survived, but the corrected first printing of it as “Aria mit verschiedenen Veraenderungen vors Clavicimbal mit 2 Manualen” has done so, & serves as the primary source for this Henle Urtext edition, ed.
