Between the months of May 1933 and August 1934 Benjamin Britten composed 12 songs with piano for children, published as Friday Afternoons op.7. They were written for his brother Robert's preparatory school at Prestatyn, where the singing classes took place on Fridays. "Lone Dog", originally excluded for copyright reasons, is published for the first time in this 1995 edition.
