Hoddinott, Alun - Barddoniaeth Daear / Poetry of Earth - CD
Product code: SCD2484Description
A collection of works by Alun Hoddinott from Sain – an English-language cycle for voice and harp setting a varied group of poems under the title ‘Poetry of Earth'; a cycle for voice and piano celebrating the bicentenary in 1999 of the birth of Alexander Pushkin, in English translations; and a dexterous collection of folk-song settings in Welsh, full of memorable touches.
Hoddinott also wrote for a number of the finest Welsh harpists. His second harp sonata “Tempi” was composed for Manon Morris in 1997; it exploits every possible example of the harp's technique.
