Berkeley, L - Sonatina for Oboe and Piano

Lennox Berkeley's Sonatina for Oboe + piano accompaniment, op.61, composed 1962. The first movement is classically structured, with a gracefully contoured first subject, a forceful ensuing idea and a murmurously lyrical second subject; the second movement generates an intensity of feeling which is the greater for the very restraint of its language; and the finale effectively introduces calm moments to offset the prevailing syncopated ebullience. Chester, 1964 / 1990. Set for Trinity Examination 2017-22 Oboe Grade 8 (Group A: 1st mvt or 2nd & 3rd mvts) & DipABRSM (1st & 2nd mvts) & LRSM & ATCL (complete)
